SHORT BIOGRAPHY Marie-Elizabeth Mali is the author of Steady, My Gaze (Tebot Bach, 2011) and is co-editor with Annie Finch of the forthcoming anthology, Villanelles (Everyman's Library Pocket Poets, 2012). She currently serves as co-curator for the Page Meets Stage reading series in New York City and served as co-curator for louderARTS: the Reading Series from 2008-2011. Before receiving her MFA in poetry from Sarah Lawrence College, she practiced Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her work has appeared in Calyx, Poet Lore, and RATTLE, among others. Marie-Elizabeth is also a co-curator for Page Meets Stage, a reading series at the Bowery Poetry Club created by her husband, renowned performance poet, Taylor Mali. This monthly series brings together a poet more known for work on the page with a poet more known for work on the stage to read back and forth, poem for poem. Co-produced by Words Worth Ink and Blue Flower Arts, the readings benefit Bowery Arts and Science, the educational wing of the Bowery Poetry Club. For more information and calendar: Page Meets Stage Marie-Elizabeth served as co-curator for louderARTS: the Reading Series from May 2008 through December 2011. Readings take place on Mondays at Bar 13 in New York City. The louderARTS Project is dedicated to uniting the various worlds of poetry (writing and performing, traditionalist structure and slam form, study and action, personal and political, solitary and collaborative, genre-specific and genre-bending), in a way that is both altruistic and personally and artistically evolutionary.
